Fo (34,2 x 24,7 x 5,5cm) xix + 201pp. + xiv + 203pp. Original dark green hardcover bindings, with gilt lettering and inlays to spines, and black lettering and patterns and gilt inlays to front boards. With various illustrations, monochrome photographs and fold-out diagrams and designs, several of which are in colour.

Please see photos for more details of this set. A lovely vintage publication on steam engines and internal combustion engines. The fold-out diagrams, where lifting each section reveals the mechanics underneath, are beautifully done. A wonderful set for anyone interested in the history of engineering, railways/locomotives, and the early years of motoring.

Condition: Overall Good. Vol. 1: Some rubbing to boards, and minor stains to rear board. Boards have light edgewear, and small bumps to corners. Small bumps to top and bottom edges of rear board. Slight shelfwear to top and tail of spine. Light browning to free endpapers, and some offsetting to rear free endpaper. The rear free endpaper has a small closed tear (less than 1,5cm) and some creasing. Very light foxing throughout, being more pronounced on some pages. Light foxing to edges of textblock. Small sections of the fold-out diagrams have been reattached with adhesive tape, and some have come loose, but all appear to be present. Splits to gutters between a few pages. Book is still well bound. Vol. 2: Light rubbing to boards, and small stains to front board. Minor bumps to corners of boards, and some edgewear to rear board. Slight shelfwear to top and tail of spine. Light browning to free endpapers. Very light foxing throughout, being more pronounced on some pages. Light foxing to edges of textblock. Splits to gutters between a few pages. Book is still well bound.
