1st Limited Edition 1996, No. 70 of 1000; Safari Press Inc., Long Beach, California. Signed with the author’s chop. Hardcover in Slip Case. Octavo, 24 x 16cm, ix 261 [1]pp. Green cloth boards with black double borders; black titles with elephant to front and black titles to spine. Green cloth covered slip case. Illustrated pastedowns and endpapers. Illustrated with 24 pages of black and white photographs.  Foreword by Baron Werner von Alvensleben.

Leo Kröger (1912-2004) was born in Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East.  As he says in the opening of his book, "this [being born in Siberia in 1912] condemned me to savor two great wars, a multitude of revolutions, the Soviet and Japanese occupation in Manchuria, Nazism, communism, apartheid, and the atomic bomb."  He lived and hunted in Siberia, Manchuria, China, England, Germany, and, from 1953, Mozambique.  "This is the story of his hunting life - with emphasis on his hunting in Africa - told in anecdotes that are at times warm, personal, witty, and above all humorous.  It is the story of a man with a lifelong passion for hunting and wingshooting; it is the story of the relationship between a man and his dog and between a man and his guns; and it is also the story of the assorted colourful characters who accompanied him on the frozen marshes of Siberia as well as in the blistering forests of Mozambique.  My Last Kambaku reflects the richness and fullness of Leo Kröger’s unusually long and eventful life, making this a most engaging hunting memoir."
