Her love for ships and the seamen who serve in them made Oumatjie Daneel an unusual newspaper reporter and an entertaining author with an eye for a good story. Her book was written in tribute to Table Bay Harbour, where, in her worn words, she spent many happy hours covering the waterfront, the South African Navy and the maritime Command of the Air Force, as well as to her newspaper. However, the photograph pages have caused foxing on the pages of text opposite them and have themselves become foxed in places.
