Uncommon Afrikaans translation (by Otto E. Schwellnus) of A King's Story, the recollections of Edward, the Duke of Windsor and the abdicated King Edward the 8th. Bound in what appears to be blue leather with gilt decoration and titles and a Royal Crest on the front board. This copy has a plate laid down on the half title page bearing the original ink signature of "Edward" and also an inscription "To F. Killoh, January 1952", possibly in another hand. This is an official plate as it replicates the crest on the front cover and on the title page. Presumably one of the few (if any) books in Afrikaans signed by a British Monarch. 395pp. Black and white plates and mapped endpapers. Laid in loosely is the card of Mr. Robert Miller, Consul. British Consulate General. Johannesburg.
Two small rubbed areas at either extreme of the spine but still a very good plus copy.
