2 volumes vol. 1 422 pages; vol. 11 78 pages, frontispieces in both volumes, title page vignettes, maps as end papers, top edges gilt, others uncut, light foxing on the page edges, offsetting of the bookplate on the title pages ,green cloth bindings with gilt vignettes on the upper covers, titled gilt on the spines – the boards are slightly scuffed, corners bumped, a good set.

The colophon of volume 1 reads: Designed, produced and published by Chrispopher Sandford at the Golden Cockerel Press, London in 13pt. Perpetua type on Arnold’s mould-made paper and finished on the 18th day of August 1945. Composition, presswork and collotyping under the supervision of F.J> Newbery at the Chiswick Press, Compositors: V.P. Atkinson and A.W. Dick. Pressmen W.H. Solly and H. Barker. The edition is limted to 500 copies of which numbers 1-50 are bound in full morocco. The engravings on the title page and the dsigns of the bindings are by John Buckland Wright. Number 239

The colophon of volume 11 reads: This translation by Somerset de Chair, of Napoleon’s Memoir of the Waterloo Campaign was begun in the Wingfield Morris Orthopaedic Hospital, Oxford, on 27 July 1943 and finished at Kinnerarach, Isle of Gigha, on 17 September 1943. This, the second and final volume of the Golden Cockerel edition was finished on the 4th day of October 1945. Number 239.
