Original orange cloth with black lettering to spine. First edition.

Standing beside the 86th milestone, I look down the long road winding through the years, and see in the distance courageous, purposul men and women, overcoming the difficulties and surmounting the obstacles that impeded the founding of the Colony of Natal and the development of its resources. Many of these pioneers I knew as a child. Their daughters were my playmates in childhood's day and my friends in later years. Of others in my early life I knew little more than their names but they were the friends of older members of our family, and the descendents of most of them became my friends.

Interesting history of Buchanan family and pioneering days in early Natal. Frontispiece of Henry Francis Fynn. 312 pages text with illustrations. A very tatty dust jacket included. Bookplate of J Rocco Ferreira on fep. Foxing to page edges.
