This is a facsimile reprint of Andersson's last book: Notes of Travels in South Africa(1875).This book arouses sympathy for the author's sufferings but still kindles admiration for his endurance. Andersson became life-chief of the Damaras when the Hereros ran into trouble with he Nama tribe. The Hereros were cowards, but despite this their new chief lead them to victory in what was to be called 'Andersson's battle'.
