A report based on six expeditions made by Dr. Leakey to the Olduvai Gorge. By working from level to level Dr. Leakey has traced the evolution of the hand-axe industry from pebble-tools at the base to refined Acheulian hand-axes at the top of Bed IV. Through corroboration with his colleagues, he has elated the archaeological sequences with the changes in flora and fauna over the same period.
