Crown 8vo; original red cloth, lettered in gilt on spine and upper cover; pp. viii + 183 + (i) + 40. Spine sunned; cloth slightly worn, with bumps to top fore-corners; endpapers, outer leaves and edges foxed, some spotting elsewhere; earlier owner's name on title page and rear free endpaper; lacking the frontis. portrait. (Hackett, pp. 63, 193; Mendelssohn II, pp. 560-561) "War experiences of a Transvaal Boer. A short account of events in Natal precedes a narrative of the guerilla campaign in the Transvaal. The author was taken prisoner in 1901 and shipped to India." - Hackett, p. 63. As one of the rare book-length Boer perspectives of the guerilla phase of the War, this work is of great importance.
