First Edition. 663 pages, frontispiece of the author, portrait, folding map slightly torn at the first fold, numerous illustrations, several pages unopened, fore edge uncut, original brown cloth with gilt vignette and title on upper cover, titled gilt on the spine, a very good copy.

Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 1 page 351.An account of the experiences and adventures of this well-known missionary, with a description of the social and political status of the natives of Rhodesia and Zambesi, &c, at the close of the nineteenth century. The work is divided into four Parts, which embrace (I.) The Banyai Expedition, 1877-1879; (II.) The Barotsi Expedition, 1882-1887; (III.) At Sefula, 1887-1892; (IV.) Lealuyi, 1892-1896.
