Front free EP has been detached. Some foxing to prelims. Owners name pencilled to pre-title page. Otherwise clean and tight.

The book is written in two parts.

Part one covers the journey from London to South Africa; settling down; Cape Town to the Orange River; waiting orders; introduction to the enemy; a military hospital; Easter manoeuvres and the trip to Bloemfontein.

Part two covers the Engagement at Welkom; The Battle of Zand River; From Kroonstadt to Johannesburg; On to Pretoria; Diamond Hill; A cyclists dispatch ride; Back to Heilbron; The final concentration at Pretoria; Envoi and ends with an Appendix titled 'British Valour'
