This is a schoolboy's small autograph album measuring 13x10.5cms. The owner of the album was a boy from the Pretoria Boy's High School and it is dated 1936 on the centre page which contains signatures of the owner's friends from "School House". Of note is a charming full page watercolour titled "Le Provence, Cape" and signed by Battiss, who had been seconded to teach at the Pretoria Boy's High School that year. The quality of this small original painting is fine and could readily be framed if so desired. The remaining pages of the album are only partly completed with the usual friend signatures and drawings of little consequence. However this early original Battiss work is significant and unusual.
The album has some loose hinges and is overally in good condition. The leaf with the Battiss drawing is about fine.
