A Narrative of Travel in Little Known Africa.

288 pages, frontispiece and many illustrations, original yellow cloth with titling in black – the cloth is faded, edges uncut, contents good.

Major Court Treatt and his South African wife Stella undertook several expeditions across Africa the most famous being their Cape to Cairo Expedition of 1924-6 which was the first to drive a motor vehicle from South to North across the entire continent. They pioneered documentary film making and she made appearances in several films such as the travelogue Stark Nature (1930). In his introduction Dr G.M. Vevers writes, ‘C.T., as he is known to his friends, is the genuine article in big-game hunters. Unaccompanied by expensive guides or equipment, he has penetrated districts previously unvisited by any white man. His hunting trips have always been adventures, not ready-made excursions.’
