Major Court Treatt and his South African wife Stella undertook several expeditions across Africa the most famous being their Cape to Cairo Expedition of 1924-6 which was the first to drive a motor vehicle from South to North across the entire continent. They pioneered documentary film making and she made appearances in several films such as the travelogue Stark Nature (1930). In his introduction Dr G.M.
