"... a soldier's story about soldiers." 'Translated from the Shona, "Pamwe Chete" literally means "Together only!" or "All together!" This tightly knit, multiracial unit, unique in its own time and ahead of its own time. During its short seven-year existence, up to Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, this regiment was to write, with honour, its name into the annals of military history with its brilliant modus operandi,' [rear cover notes]. Book condition: softcover edition, 2001, in very good condition; end-papers clean (no inscriptions), text and illustrations fine and bright, spine creased with some small creases on front cover, top 1cm from dedication page to p.iv (4 pages total) has been trimmed off (not affecting text), as well as a few millimetres of the top some of the illustration pages: top edge appears not to have been trimmed to the correct size, with some perforated page edges showing, and with a few tears to the top of some of the illustrated pages. These are, however, small faults, in what is an excellent to near fine overall copy; 593pp plus six pages adverts.
