A small oblong 14 x 28cm photographic view album published by the early Johannesburg printing firm Sallo Epstein & Co. This is one of only ten known publications by this firm and only two copies of this title are recorded in the South African Bibliography (SABIB).
The firm of Sallo Epstein was established in Johannesburg in 1889, three years after the Golden City was founded, and was initially listed in the general directory as "stamp dealers". In 1903 they were listed as "publishers, stationers, philatelists", and in 1912 the general directory lists them as "publishers of view books, postcards etc."
The album contains twelve plates printed on both sides.
