An important Parliamentary Paper detailing the expedition down the River Niger. Undertaking great expense and some danger, the purpose of the expedition was to hamper the International Slave Trade by contacting tribal chiefs along the Niger River and its tributaries. Through establishing commercial relationships with these chiefs, the Expedition hoped to prevent the trade of slaves from Africa to Brazil, Cuba, and the United States colonies.
