A far better than average copy of this title relating to the Border/K***** Wars, in the original blind and gilt decorated maroon cloth. The scarcer variant with the magnificent plates hand coloured. (The commoner variant has the original sepia tinted plates). The plates are complete, comprising the frontispiece, the coloured title page (in addition to the printed title) and nineteen other superb plates - all hand coloured. There are in addition 35 pages of letterpress text.

Condition:The cloth and gilt illustration is in remarkably nice condition. The outer joints show minimal wear but the book is still firm and tight. The original cream endpapers are present and unmarked but just starting to crack at the hinges - however the underlying gauze is not exposed and is still intact. Internally the contents are clean with occasional very mild foxing.

A lovely copy of this appealing book. SABIB Vol. 3 Page 177.
