The album contains 130 photographs of varying sizes from very small to half plate (150 x 200 mm). Sister Jones (later Hulton) seems to have served in various military hospitals including the Wynberg Hospital. Others images are of Durban, Pinetown railway station, Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith and the Marianhill Mission – several showing brothers and nuns at work. A final image is a large (255 x 160 mm) possibly hand coloured photograph with the printed title, ‘Boers Outspanning, Transvaal. ‘There is a photograph of the Hospital Ship “Nubia” upon which it is recorded that a Sister A.L. Jones returned to England from Natal on 24th May 1902.

The album (250 x 300 mm) is of the usual type of half roan leather and cloth sides titled ‘Photographs’ on the upper cover with stiff card leaves on linen hinges. The binding is in poor condition; the spine is missing and the corners are worn. Some photographs are faded but most are in good condition.

No Date (circa 1900/1902)
