Album consisting of 30 sepia toned photographs varying in size, mainly scenic views of Cape Town and surrounds, and 6 smaller portraits with captions in pencil beneath each photograph. The album is undated.
The album comprises of 34 stiff card leaves, about half of which are used. Full leather, with gilt on upper cover and titled gilt on the spine. The leather is rubbed and worn round the edges and splitting at the bottom of the spine, dentelles on the inner edges of the covers, book plate on front free end paper.
The photographs appear to date back to the early 1880's and include the following: (Only 2 are specifically dated) Adderley Street in Cape Town 1880 Lions Kop in the background Taken at Port Elizabeth South Africa February 1881 (A house) Kalk Bay from the fishery Simonstown Botanical Gardens.
