1st Edition, 1995; SA Country Life, Nelspruit. Imperial octavo, 21 x 27 cm, x, 222 pp. Pictorial cream laminated paper boards with brown titles to front and spine. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs.

Pioneers of the Lowveld is the  benchmark work on the people who shaped the Lowveld region of the Transvaal, now Part of Mpumalanga.

Hans Bornman, a member of the Names Society of Southern Africa, was born in the Mpumalanga Lowveld, and is the artist and co-author of the book: Aloes of the South African Veld (1971); contributing author of Transvaalse Laeveld, edited by Chris Barnard (1975); author/editor of the book Nelspruit 75 in '80' (1979); co-author of A Dictionary of Kruger National Park Place Names (2005) amongst many others. His most recent works are Cockney Liz, Legendary Barmaid of Barberton (first edition 2010 and second edition 2014); White River Photo Album (2015) and Kaapsche Hoop, Village in the Mist (2015).

Condition: Front cover corners bent; mild foxing to prelims and mild soiling to front edge. Very Good.
