A series of political cartoons that appeared in the Johannesburg Star during the six months January to June 1907, during which time the Transvaal Colony was working toward Responsible Government. Includes a complete portrait gallery of the Transvaal Parliament.
A knowledge of political events in South Africa immediately after the Anglo-Boer war is perhaps obscure to the modern reader, but even just a cursory glance at Holland's cartoons will immediately give context to the issues of the day.
Pictorial paper covered boards.
iv (title page plus index) + 71pp (of which 9 pages are portraits) + 2pp (legislative assembly first election results).
A fairly large book and an early Johannesburg publication.
