Hardback with unclipped dustcover over original black boards. First United Kingdom Edition.

Koenig a German professional big game hunter, describes his adventures hunting lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and other game, primarily in Tanganyika.

Although a proffessional hunter, Oskar Koenig has always been concerned to preserve, rather than kill, the animals he so loves and understands. He is among the creators of the immense National Park on the Ngorongoro crater, where animals who would be dangerous in other surroundings live in peace and security. He has some remarkable stories to tell: of his encounter with the fabulous elephant, Selemani, believed to be three hundred old, whom no hunter has been able to kill; of the lioness that became so tame that it lived with a British official in Nairobi; of the slaughter of a herd of wild elephants that was devastating the native villages and of the orgy that followed.

8vo. 236 pages text with supporting photographic illustrations. Translated from the German by the author & Oliver Colburn. Slight offset to endpapers.
