Presumably this publication came into being to counter international condemnation against the Apartheid Regime's inhuman treatment of the incarcerated under then minister of Justice B J Vorster, whose portfolio also included the Ministry of Police and Prisons.
This may have been his personal copy, since it has his name embossed on the bottom right hand corner in silver.
The book surveys the prison system in some detail, and half of it consists of bw photos which reflect the idyllic conditions in our subcontinent's jails.
46 pp plus approximately the same number of pages of pictures. Very good condition in grey leatherette cover with silver crest and titling on front, as well as B J Vorster's name.
