Rev. Samuel Shaw Dorman (1871-1941) based his book on first-hand information and investigations while working as a missionary and doing survey work in the area now known as Botswana. His personal observations are of great interest, but when theorising on matters outside his experience he is regarded as being less reliable. An important record, nevertheless.
