Engraved general title page, [14], 226, [2 blank]; 923, [1 blank]; 267, [1 blank], [56 index], [2 errata] pages, period or early calf, binding rather worn and with some old glue repair attempts, boards just about detached (may come apart in shipping), light to moderate foxing, page edges toned and brittle, light to moderate foxing throughout, occasional minor paper flaws and worming, generally not affecting text, still overall good.

The first Schroeder-edited edition of this work. Extended posthumous collection of the alchemical-medical theories of Joseph du Chesne (ca. 1544-1609), alternatively Duchesne and often referred to by his Latin name of Josephus Quercetanus. He is notable as a follower of Paracelsus (Theophrastus Bombast von Hohenheim), whose theories served as a point of departure for Quercetanus. Reference: VD17 12:165301Z.
