260 pages, frontispiece, 5 plates, folding map at the end, owners inscription on the front free endpaper, original brown cloth titled gilt and with a gilt vignette of the head of a lion on the upper cover and spine– which is now faded, the cloth is dull, fore-edge uncut, booksellers ticket on the back paste-down endpaper, light foxing,a good copy.

Czech: An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game hunting Books, 1785 to 1999, pages 214 - 5. 'The author, an assistant deputy commissioner of British Central Africa, pursued sporting adventures in the Haud region west of Hargeisa in Somaliland. After travelling by camel caravan, he and his hunting party bagged oryx and aoul, plus records of numerous encounters with lion. Continuing into the interior, elephants were collected. Near the Ethiopian border and the Tyuli Hills, rhinoceros, kudu and leopard were hunted.'
