With manuscript notes, on the second blank, giving us a short biography of Le Grand, and informing us the the book was banned by the French censors after protests from Walpole and Stanhope at the Congress of Soissons, leading to the scarcity of this book. The lone copy actually on the market is missing the fold out plate.

Paris, Chez Hyppolite Guérin, 1728. in-12, [6] ff. n. ch. (titre, avertissement), 391 pp., [8] ff. n. ch. (index, privilège, errata), complet avec le tableau généalogique en dépliant, veau blond, dos à nerfs orné de fleurons dorés, pièce de titre cerise, tranches rouges (reliure de l'époque). Unique édition du dernier ouvrage publié de l'auteur. L'historien Joachim Le Grand (1653-1733), entra dans la Congrégation de l'Oratoire en 1671, mais en sortit dès 1676, puis il s'attacha à des études historiques en travaillant la connaissance des anciens titres et des chartes. Secrétaire de la pairie après des postes de secrétaire et négociateur au Portugal et en Espagne, son travail va s'orienter vers des travaux historiques, des inventaires et notamment sa Vie de Louis XI qui ne paraîtra jamais.

(index, privilege, errata), complete with the genealogical table foldout, tan calf, the spine gold tooled, titled on red label, red edges (contemporary binding ). Unique edition of the last published book of the author. The historian Joachim the Great (1653-1733), entered the congregation of the oratory in 1671, but went out in 1676, then he attacked historical studies by working the knowledge of the old titles and charters. He had positions in Portugal and Spain, his writings will move towards historical work, inventories and in particular his life of Louis XI that was never published.
