Satirical engraving: Napoleon & his rat army.

German print, c. 1815/16. Some creasing in edgewear, light toning, mainly outside the plate mark. Rare. 

British museum: a satire Napoleon the first exile on Saint Helena, showing the former emperor now reduced to leading an army of rats in their war against the cats; he is seen standing at right, holding his sword aloft, while rats armed with bayonet charge to the left; in the foreground some rats are seen carrying cannons. British museum number 2012, 7029. 6.
