This is the true story of a man who was discharged from the R.A.F. after losing both legs in an air crash in 1931, and who fought his way back to become one of the great heroes of the Battle of Britain. But the war was only an episode in a greater victory, his triumph over a disability which one would call crippling had he not deprived the word of its meaning.
