Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 2 page 280: The author paid visits to the Cape in the years 1658 and 1665, and the eighteenth chapter of the second volume gives an account of the latter, when a stay of about six weeks was made. Schouten gives some description of the natives, whom he represents as being in a terrible state of ignorance and superstition. This edition contains a large map, and a number of folding and other plates, including a curious view of the Cape, and a portrait of the author.
