‘Johan Fredrik Victorin (1831-1855) was a prominent Swedish zoologist and explorer in South Africa . He was the son of Per Henric Victorin (1790-1857), industrialist on Kvarns use, Krist's parish in Östergötland, He was married to his cousin Hedvig (Hedda) Westring (1804-1864), daughter of Karl XIV, Johan's first physician, Johan Petter West Ring and his wife, born Braad. Johan Fredrik Victorin died at only 24 years of age, having just returned from his African trip.
