Second edition. 3 volumes in 1, (viii), 101, 102 - 238, 253, (27) pages, engraved title page, engraved portrait of the author, title page printed in red and black, 19 double-page plates - some folding, 24 plates, 4 half page illustrations including a view of Table Bay, contemporary full calf rubbed and upper joint split but still holding firmly on the ties, 2 of the folding plates are soiled at the margins and the plate of Batavia (page 168 in the third book) has been simply repaired at the centre fold, some light browning of the text but overall a well preserved copy.
The account of extensive travel in the East Indies. Schouten called at the Cape on both his outward and homeward voyages, and both visits are described in this volume.
