A splendid account of true adventurein the early pioneering days of South Africa that provides compelling reading plus an historical record of those "hard" days.

Born near Durban in 1861, the young Mossopleft home at the tender age of 14 to seek adventure. This he found after joining a Boer hunting party, who taught him horsemanship, how to shoot and live off the veld that teemed with buck, wildebeest and Quagga.

At 15 and a half he signed up witht the Light Horse Infantry and was rushed off to war against the mighty Zulu warriors. They were but a handful of pioneers who were often greatly outnumbered. The young Mossop lived through these exciting but hard formative years.

This is his story of laughter, fear, sadness and hardship. He has left for all South Africans a vivid and wonderful insight to those early events of South African History.
