Limitation on the verso of the title page reads: This edition is limited to 120 copies, of which 100, numbered 1 to 100, and signed by the author are for sale. This is No.22.
Loosely inserted is a typed letter in an envelope addressed to the Lord Berwick, Attingham Park, Shrewsbury, S A L O P which reads: Dear Lord Berwick, It was very nice to hear from you again after so many years and especially to receive so charming a letter as you wrote me about my book. I am so glad that you fell I have made Joan seem a human person and not a sort of waxwork. Yours sincerely Vita Nicolson ( in green ink.)
