Presumed first edition of this important biographical work by Mohandas Gandhi in which he recounts his experiences in South Africa.
Published in 1928 - the dw. and the front board state "Navajivan Publishing House, Ahmedabad", but the title page states "S. Ganesan, Publisher, Triplicane, Madras. 1928". On the last page of the book (preceding the index) is stated: "Printed by S. Ganesan at the Current Thought Press, Triplicane, Madras". There is no indication in the book that this is a reprint. However, I have been unable to trace a bibliographical reference to this edition which is 511pp. with a viii. page index at the rear and bound in quarter cloth and lime green paper covered boards with a printed paper label title
The book is in near fine unmarked and unfoxed condition. It has a small stain of the foreedge and some slight wear of the corners. The dw. has a 1cm. deep piece missing from the top of the spine and a few other small chips and light general wear. Please note that the images have been taken in a dustjacket protector so that the white backing shows through beneath the chips.
