214 pages, folding hand coloured aquatint frontispiece, half dark brown calf with a green leather title label on the spine and elegant gilt decoration between the raised bands, book plate on the front paste-down endpaper, a very good copy.

A South African Bibliography, volume 3, page 667, ‘The frontispiece was erroneously published with the title 'Entrance to the Rownie River'. This copy has the corrected title pasted down - 'Entrance to the Kowie River'. Anonymously published selection from the letters of the 1820 settler, Thomas Phillips, to his sister, Mrs Catherine Richardson.’
