Number 3 of an edition limited to 75 copies.


Heydt came from southern Germany. Originally employed as a soldier by the
VOC, he gained promotion partly, it appears, due to his ability to sketch. He
drew these scenes whilst at the Cape from 25 January to 16 March 1741.

Numbers 1-75 were bound in full leather and numbers 76-750 in pictorial cloth.
