With fifty-one illustrations from photographs and two large maps contained in a pocket inside the rear cover. 8vo, publisher's original teal cloth with gilt decoration of lion's head on top cover, gilt-lettered on cover and spine. xii, 312 including appendix and index pp. An acceptable copy with some fade to the cloth, the text-block clean with no foxing, the illustrations all in good order. Bookplate of Whitaker Walshaw on the front pastedown.

Account of a year long furlough hunting in British East Africa. The author's first journey up the Uganda Railway, spotting the vast array of animals, gazelles, zebra, ostriches, wildebeest, giraffe, lions and rhino. The chapters include legendary African names, the Tana River, Mount Kenya and Lake Victoria.
