Solid bronze sculpture of a Wingshooter / Clay-Pigeon field sportsman in typical shooting stance, wearing traditional Colonial hunting attire, i.e. Knickerbockers and Norfolk style shooting Jacket.

The size of the sculpture, minus the base, measures 523mm high. With the base and foot-piece attached it is 663mm high. It is mounted to two solid blocks of Rhodesian Teak and has an die-stamped copper plaque attached to the top piece bearing the Afrikaans words 'Mik hoog' (Aim high). As such, it appears to have been a corporate piece, probably gracing pride of place in either an entrance foyer or boardroom.

We've had the sculpture appraised by Bronze Age at the Woodstock Foundry, who confirm that it is an authentic solid bronze sculpture, more than likely a one-off and a very nice piece at that. It also appears to be quite old judging by the general patina. Due to lack of information on the artist, they declined to hazard a guess as to the value of the sculpture. However, as a rough idea, the foundry cost to solid bronze-cast a sculpture of this nature would be in the order of $1500, the value of the resulting piece being a lot higher.

We've pitched the Reserve at a tenth of the standard foundry cost to solid bronze cast a similar sculpture.

Note, this is a heavy sculpture, weighing in just short of 10kg.
