This 12pp. Brochure was released to coincide with the opening of South Africa House in London on 22nd. June 1933 by King George V and the Queen. It was issued in a regular edition in plain cream card wraps with a coloured armorial crest on the front wrapper and twelve pages of text and drawings of South Africa House by H.L.G. Pilkington printed on high quality art paper and uncut lower edge. It was also issued in an identical de-luxe edition bound in full cream soft leather with the identical coloured crest on the front cover and an embossed gilt outline. This deluxe edition is signed on the last page by Herbert Baker, the architect of S.A. House.
On offer is a copy of each issue described above:
1. The De-Luxe edition described above in fine unmarked condition.
2. The Regular edition in fine condition in the original glassine dustwrapper which has one 3cm. tear at the rear. Enclosed in a pocket at the front is the 4pp. Programme for the Opening in English and Afrikaans. Enclosed in the original mailing envelope (to an address in Cape Town - the envelope being a little used and soiled.
I am unsure of how many of each issue were published. I have seen several copies of the Regular issue over the years. However this is the first copy of the De-Luxe issue that I have seen and I would imagine it to be very scarce.
