Hard cover, green cloth boards with gilt on front. The Pilot's Flying Log Book of South African Air Force pilot, Lt. F.A. Lardner, who served on behalf of the Allied Forces in Southern Europe during the Second World War.
The Log Book contains a complete record of the pilot's activities, from his initial training in 1941 to his last duty on 5 January, 1945. His instructing Captain reported the following on Lardner in an early training report: "This pupil's flying is shoddy, he gives one the impression that he would fly better if he tried harder". However, his assessment at 22 Air School, Vereeniging, concluded 'above average' in September, 1941 and he was awarded his flying badge. After further training in South Africa he joined 16 SA Air Force Squadron in March, 1944 in Europe. There are entries and notes on 135 pages of this Log Book.
