Notes on the 70 bookplates are detailed, critical assessments of their artistic suitability, design and the owners and artists who drew the plates. Those included in the book have page number references in the index. Those excluded were done so because the author tried to include as wide a variety of styles and periods, not merely because the owners were bookplate artists or well known personalities.
