This complete 3 volume set is housed in a hand made slip case by master craftsman Peter Carstens and is covered with maroon coloured cloth, marbled paper edges and leather trim.

Each volume has the book plate of Sir George Herbert Farrar on the front paste down. These book plates were made by A. Wyon in London.
Volume one has xvi prelims, 355 pages, a black and white frontis labelled "Plate A" and six cromolithographed plates at the rear. Volume two has 6 prelims, 242 pages and the numeration of the colour plates at the rear continues from volume one as Plate Numbers 7, 8 and 9. Volume three has 8 prelims, 438 pages and the numeration of the colour plates at the rear follow from volume 2 as Plates 10, 11 and Plate 12. There is a coloured fold out map at the rear. There is a full description of all the images in the text preceding the plates in each volume.
CONDITION DETAILS: This book does have signs of use, wear and ageing but is a superior set in every way. No attempt has been made to clean the odd soil mark on the plates.
