Plate 1, the lino-cut, is signed in pencil by Walter Battiss. All 500 copies bear this pencil signature on Plate one and each signature is slightly different.

There are 22 plates in total and 43 pages

CONDITION DETAILS: The inside flaps of the dust jacket are glued to the inner stiff paper wrappers, but are other wise loose. The spine of the dust jacket is loose and torn. The are several pages that have browning. There is a small cut, which is visible on the image provided of the Irma Stern drawing, which affects several pages. This cut is small - about 3mm in length. See the image provided of Plate 10, which shows the browning/foxing on the facing page.
