106 pages, numerous group photographs, portraits, pages starting to curl at the top right hand corner of the text, green card wrappers with slight spotting on the upper cover, worn on the spine, and torn on the bottom edge of the back cover.

Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 2, page 366: The Cape Town Guard, formed to defend the town, which had been denuded of troops who had been despatched to the front, mustered nearly 10,000 men. The volume contains a list of the various companies with their officers and men, groups of photographs, and a tale entitled " A Reconciliation: The Story of an Adventure in the Town Guard," by W. H. Stokes.
