Originally published by Rowland Ward in 1900.
One of the rarest of all African big game hunting books, there were only 200 copies printed, apparently most or all signed by Rowland Ward. A sumptuous work, this volume recounts the 1895 safari of Polish aristocrat and sportsman Potocki and his comrades to Somlialand's Haud region, then into Ogaden. The party bagged elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros, aoul, gazelle, hartebeest and beisa (oryx). The excellent artwork in the book is from the talented Polish illustrator Piotr Stachiewicw.
This de luxe facsimile edition was produced for The African Collection by Briar Press Press in 1988, and limited to 500 numbered copies. Illustration, Half Title(ill), Frontipiece, Title(ill) Foreword by F Phillips Williamson, Contents - 5 Chapters, List of Illustrations, List of Full-Page Photogravures, xix plus 136 with large folding map. Complete with beige cloth slipcase.
