1 volume. First edition 1890
An account of the attempt to rescue Emin Pasha, after destruction
of General Gordon and his army at Khartoum in 1885. Actually, the
relief army organized and influenced by the famed explorer missed
the mark, and had to be rescued itself by the Emin Pasha. In 1892
Emin Pasha was eventually killed by slave traders, which served to
fuel the sales of Stanley's memoir, In Darkest Africa.
