The original edition of this book only had two plans by B.R. Baker whereas this edition has 12 additional black and white illustrations taken from De Meillon's "Views of Cape Town" which give an accurate impression of Cape Town at about 1820. This is the 19th volume in the Africana Collectanea Series. This edition was limited to 750 numbered copies of which copy numbers 1 to 50 were specially bound in the "de luxe" style. Original brown leather spine and corners with a green title label on the spine with gilt titling and the publisher's device on the upper board. 8 prelims, followed by a facsimile of the 1823 edition with viii prelims, 380 pages, 2 fold out plans, an extra frontis and 12 plates.
CONDITION DETAILS: A book seller's label on the front paste down. Internally clean. The binding has a few scuff marks, especially on the corners.
