Notebook from the  artist featuring fountain pen drawings and writings with inserted typescripts.

The tree is the main figure in this book. Here we find the main codes which belong to the artist—palimpsest and repetition. The pages create an analogy between book and tree, which is represented as the mother-source of creation before being transformed in a gibbet. Kentridge pursues his meanders where he evokes  the smell of bakelite, vermouth risotto, a cemetery in the Congo, Sibyl, Cranach etc.

Some minor signs of use with bumps on the outer corners. Overall in very good, clean and attractive condition - virtually unread. See pic 1.

Softcover with dust jacket, 52 pages.
