Published for the Trustees of the South African Bird Book Fund, The Sunbirds of Southern Africa also the Sugarbirds, the White-eyes and the Spotted Creeper is described as 'a comprehensive monograph prepared with the assistance of Cecily Niven (descriptions of species); Professor J.M.Winterbottom (taxonomy, distribution, etc.); and Richard Liversidge (tongues).'

Each of the four sections starts with a general review of the family which is followed by a detailed description of each bird. Altogether 20 species of sunbirds, 2 of sugarbirds, 3 of white-eyes and 1 spotted creeper are described.

John Perry's illustrations have been beautifully reproduced in colour lithography. He has also contributed 40 line drawings, distribution maps and 91 photographic illustrations.

The book is in Very Good general condition. The Dust Jacket has no tears and is clean. There is some fading in the spine area, but spine titles are still bright. Light brown cloth-covered boards, gilt logo on front cover and gilt titles on spine. Covers in Very Good condition. Sellotape marks on ffe and 1/2 title page, also on last page of the index at the back. Binding in Very Good condition, top and front edges slightly browned. Text and illustrations in Very Good condition.
